I have Medicare with a monthly subscription plan that has a copays which I paid for the year. My medication is still costing me very high so expensive on a monthly basis. Is there anyone out there that is experiencing the same Financial problem getting their prescriptions filled and a high rate

Chastity:
I’ve been in a situation similar to the one you described, and here are some things that helped me. Hopefully, some/any of the below info will work for you!

Have you looked at the various options/providers for Part D coverage? There are many different Part D providers, and the ratings from current & former subscribers can be very helpful.

Another option is using Rx discount cards. These can be invaluable! They are free, and there are hundreds of different ones. The more cards you have, the better. When you have an Rx that needs to be filled, ask your pharmacist to run the Rx through using the various discount cards you have, and ask them to use the discount card that provides the lowest discount Rx! The pharmacy may be busy, so it will take some time, but it’s worth the wait. The right discount card can lower your particular medication cost from, say, $225 (without any insurance or discount card) to $19.95( w/ a particular Rx discount card).

Lastly, you can get in touch w/ your local Department of Health & Human Services (DHS). The number of programs provided by one’s local DHS are too many to list, but briefly, they offer food stamps, employment assistance, low-cost or no-cost immunization clinics, Women, Infant & Children Health programs, mental health services, substance abuse treatment & recovery programs, affordable housing, job seeker services, Medicaid services, and much more.

@chastity
Hi again-I posted a response to your question at the end of July, but I wanted to get some clarity on something you said. You said you have a monthly subscription plan-did you mean a monthly Medicare premium subscription, or a monthly prescription (Part D) plan? I’m on Medicare & got to choose my prescription plan, and that particular plan has worked out great for me. It’s not highly-rated on the Medicare site, but the monthly premium was…something like $2.40/month (which I went ahead and paid for for the rest of 2020), and almost all my Rx’s cost $1.40, be it for a 30-day supply OR a 90-day supply! Since you have Medicare, I’d suggest you go on their website & look at different Part D Rx coverage plans. There are a lot to choose from. There might be certain time frames as to when you are allowed to switch coverage, but I’m not 100% sure about that. If I were you, I’d just call Medicare directly & tell them your Part D plan is costing too much & ask if they can recommend a better one. Oh, and since you get Medicare benefits, depending on what state you live in, you are probably eligible for Medicaid. When my state expanded Medicaid access & I was approved, I was surprised at how much Medicaid paid towards my Rx’s. Again, hope this helps you out!
