Need Help Paying Rent and Utilities?

Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, we know it’s become even more difficult to pay for rent and utilities. That’s why the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) developed an online, mobile-friendly tool that’s especially meant to help those who are impacted the most by high housing costs: small landlords, women, and people of color (POC). 11 million renters are facing eviction, but help is available. Congress set aside $46 billion to help landlords and renters across the country.

This tool gives you access to see almost 500 housing and rental assistance programs available nationwide.

Tip #1: Some of these programs can help with both rent and utilities, such as gas and water!

When using the CFPB’s online tool, start with your local program. If you decide to apply for rental assistance.

Tip #2: The CFPB advises that you do not submit multiple applications at once—stick to one.
