I've started to curb my interest in spending on new items by making money by selling my old items I no longer use! I sell clothing and shoes on Poshmark (the postage is paid by them) and household items on Favebook Marketplace. I also use Ibotta to earn money on grocery shopping. It adds up! By earning a bit omoney, my spending mentality shifts. I also carry water & snacks in the car so I'm less likely to impulse buy drinks or food while out.

I have cut down a lot on spending I don’t know when I’m going back to work

Buy dessert ingredients you love and make them at home for less! Also, you can cut expenses by using reusable items instead of disposable items! There are so many reusable household goods that can cut your monthly budget down!

Look for the budget rack at the grocery store. I got some nice baked goods 1/2 price

@Ken - What phone apps do you use? I'd love to know more.

Personally, I have the Coupons.com and Safeway apps downloaded on my phone. Safeway is my closest grocery store, and I just recently found out that I can double up on savings when I couple the in-store coupon with the manufacturer coupon. For example, I recently bought 4 boxes of mac n cheese that usually cost $2.99 each for $0.97 each after using two coupons 😍

Great buy!

I know it'll be, but you have to get only what you need and not want, and try to use coupons when needed. That's how I've learned how to budget.

You can't fix it if you are not motivated to make the change.

Find some cheaper reward you can swap for it. Like a homemade smoothie instead of jamba juice or dessert from a box mix (Ghiradelli mix makes the best brownies. We're a household of two, so when I bake I usually freeze half for later).

I use Ibotta too, which is a great little cashback when buying groceries.

I track all my spending on a printable tracker, and use a no spend month tracker whether or not I'm actually doing a no spend month. I find that trying to create a no spend streak (sans essentials like bills) helps give me motivation to not spend.

I think he is talking about Ibotta and other apps like it.
Here is my referral link to Ibotta, if you want to look into it. I have saved over $600 in the last year using this app to shop and get rebates on groceries.

Also, use Fetch and you get points for your receipts that you can use toward gift cards.

https://fetchrewards.onelink.me/vvv3/referralemail?code=3QNXFX

I have used this for a few months and earned about $75 in gift cards.

Also you can directly contact the companies from brands you use and request coupons. Some are more than happy to send them for you being a loyal customer.

Another, great way to save with grocery shopping is paper coupons from the Sunday inserts and matching them with ads, then stacking the ibotta rebates and Fetch Rewards. I get a ton of items for nearly nothing this way. Plus when ibotta and coupons.com, send me the money, I put it into my savings account to accure and see what I have down the road.

It takes time to learn all the ways to save and the apps to use that are legit. Even after doing this for 18 years or so, I am still learning new tricks. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. You just have to make sure whatever you are doing is within your budget and you are only buying what you use.

Best wishes.

I try to eat at home rather than go out to eat. I also try to avoid impulse buying as much as possible and use coupons when available. Additionally, I regularly monitor my credit card transaction history to make sure my spending does not get out of line.

I balance my check book almost every day. I subtract my monthly bills as soon as I get my income.

I second the fetch app suggestions. I have earned over $100 from it. All you do is scan your receipts. You can also get extra points from buying certain things, but remember not to buy it of you won't use it/don't need it.
