I’m trying to build my credit but I’m seeing little to no results.

Your credit reports typically updates within 48-72 hours of you making a payment on an account. It depends on how frequently the creditor updates their information with the credit bureaus.

the ones available from my credit card - once a month

they update whenever your credit company wants to update them, if your credit company wants to update everyday, then your credit will be updated everyday

Credit companies receive data from reporting entities 24/7 and assimilate the data instantaneously.

How often should you check (from a free source like a credit card company like Discover)? For most people once a month is probably sufficient or within a few days of engaging in an activity that can affect score (paying off a balance, applying for a mortgage, etc.).

This is good information! I was wondering that as well since Experian sends me little notices when my score goes up. Thanks!

I love that scores update often…..I've been working on my credit these last few months and it's gone up slot!! I'm glad I'm able to check it and it doesn't hurt you score!

Typically monthly, but if you sign up for Credit Karma you can get daily updates. But Credit Karma shows a variation of your credit score.

Credit scores are updated constantly… the question is how often should you check them…
Many credit cards, loans, etc will only report once a month, and not always every month… or they might be behind a bit… and some (such as Chase) will mid cycle report if you pay the balance to zero… If you are using a service or feature that reports a true FICO score from one or more of the CRAs …. (Credit reporting agencies) … its likely to be once a month you get an update… its a snapshot of when its pulled during the month… Services that use FAKO (VantageScore) which is less often used and IMHO more volatile to usage and new accounts usually update much more frequently than once a month … Unfortunately only Synchrony tends to use VS scores and some apartment rentals… Unless you pay a service that explicitly soft pulls FICOs more than once a month..

these free reports offered by your financial institutes are assembled monthly. Not reflective of recent changes as a hard pull would be
