Just paid off all my debt Except for student loans. After saving up and paying off $ 12, 200, it’s time to start saving again for my down payment on my new home I’m going to buy within the year…

Try NACA! They offer no down payment, no closing costs, etc. I am currently in the process of buying a home through them.

Thanks for the info. I’ll have to check them out and see what all there requirements are.

I have about $3k left in credit card debt I had 8k so I made decent dent. Once that’s paid I’ll start with down payment saving

Prices are so expensive in MA. I will have to move if I want to buy a home.

Tashana, that’s great!!! You’re almost there. Keep cutting away at it, you’ll be done before you know it.

Katharina, I’m sorry to hear that. I can’t believe they are raising prices on things knowing that the economy is so messed up right now. Hopefully, things will work out in your favor right in time for you!!!

@Regina B & Tashana J,
Congratulations on paying off and down your debt. Congratulations on purchasing your home now and in the coming months.

I've been trying to pay off my debt collections for up to 4 yrs now and I haven't had money and can't seem to pay it off. I'd love to move into a house of my own cheaper than renting the current apartment I'm in. How can I pay off my debt collections wirhout having to hire someone to do it for me. I'm just curious. Don't need to respond to me directly.

Try calling your creditors and re-negotiate with the balance of your debt. There are some companies that are willing to work with you paying half of the amount own and close out your debt.

I am hoping to do the same sometime soon. Does it depend on your credit score for the amount down u need?

@Deveri, thank you very much!!! @ Holly M., I did exactly what Deveri suggested you do. Instead of me paying between $17,00 to $20,000, I settled all for about $12,000….so it can be done!!!

Hio W. Thank you! I’m not quite debt free, I still have all my student loans on my credit report lol but outside of that, I’d like to consider it debt free…

Each state has their own downpayment assistance program and calhfa which is a federal program

The less debt that you have going into home ownership, the better. Congrats on paying down student loans.

I am working on debt settlement through a company. I don't really recommend that route. I didn't read the fine print very well, and they charge 10% of my total debt from the beginning with each settlement, so I get charged roughly $3000 every time they settle for me. As someone stated above, I could have just called and worked it out with the company and not had to pay that exorbitant fee. Plus, it wouldn't have negatively impacted my credit since I had to go six months without paying my cc before the company stepped in and contacted them to settle. I definitely would recommend trying to work it out with the cc company first.
