The buy now and pay later sites are good in rebuilding your credit as long as you make your payments on time. Just don’t get caught up in the “you’ve earned a credit line increase” scam. Although it’s legit, it’s not feasible to take advantage of the increased credit. That means you are spending more in credit that you will accumulate in debt and take longer to pay off along with interest. When I could no longer work and went on SSDI as my only source of income, I was desperate to find a way to still purchase gifts for my loved ones for birthdays and holidays. So, I joined Fingerhut.com and Ginny’s.com. I have been with both of them for over two years and I’m in debt over $2000 with the combination of both websites. I’ve been paying 30% over the minimum payment due each month to try and pay the debts down quicker. It’s still taking a long time and is very stressful. I got caught up in their promos, discounts and sales tactics to get me to buy more thinking I was getting bargains, especially with the free shipping gimmicks. Technically, they charge much more for their products than the standard retailers do and even with the sales and discounts, you are still paying more in the long run. Their shipping costs when they aren’t offering free shipping, it way above the normal for what shipping should cost. I fell into the trap and am trying really hard to pay off the debt but with all the interest they charge, I seem to fall deeper into the debt dilemma. So you need to really think hard about buy now pay later options before you sink into the never ending nightmare of debt. I have come to realize since I made these irrational and I logical choices which placed me in the pit of debt despair, that it would have been easier and a lot cheaper to make gifts for my loved ones instead. Those type of gifts are extra special because they are sentimental, made from the heart and the time invested in it is priceless. Handmade gifts have more meaning and significance than those bought from retailers. Handmade gifts are one of a kind and are an expression of love and dedication to the receiver. I love to do wood crafts and painting crafts. I made a few items for loved ones before and compared to items that I purchased, the handmade gifts were far more popular and far more meaningful. All I can say, is give it a try and see for yourself. Handmade items are an extension of you and your creativity. Even if you aren’t very artistic, it’s still very easy to create with the assistance offered online. Just type in what you want to make in the search bar and include the word instructions or how to make “ “. It is really helpful.

Thanks for sharing - I'm caught up in some debt too and it sucks. These companies should be held accountable for messing with people's finances when they know from the start that sucking people into debt is their goal

Yes, buy now pay later is just like a credit card, and it will bite you in the end if you don't stay on top of what you owe in principal and interest.
