Listened to a few Popcorn Finance podcasts while I was working this morning. I love that they are short! Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Precious, I'm not sure. I haven't heard anything about referrals. Maybe one of the other people who comment can advise you better. If all else fails contact SaverLife. From what I understand, customer service is usually good at problem solving with rewards and points.

Hi Tina!
Has anyone taken the child tax credit survey? I've tried about 4 times now and it always ends by taking me to a government website but it's not acknowledging that I finished it and I'm seeing no points added. Was thinking of contacting customer service but wondered if anyone else had an easy-fix suggestion first.

@Precious N. I was hoping someone would be able to give you a more definite answer than I can, but I suppose I will try.
The short is: it wasn't really stated. I assumed–since the referral program is in the beta-testing phase–that the rewarded amount would be given if the program ever becomes reality.

I am not used to being someone who uses referral-programs nor am I familiar with beta-testing, so I cannot really give much information. I will say that the information I have received about the amount each successful referral gives to both recommender and recruit has varied in almost every place I look. (Initial e-mail introducing beta-testing said $5, the acceptance to request to beta-test said: $3 [at the start of the e-mail] and $5 [at the end of the e-mail], and the "leaderboards" page says (last I looked, at least) $2. Thus, I assumed (and gave warning/disclaimers in my referral-attempts) that payment may or may not be as stated. If it was great, if not, at least the information is still available.

I think, to get answers it may be best to contact Saver-Life dirrectly and the second-best to simply start a new thread about the referral-program (and maybe mention in the initial comment that it is in beta-testing phase).

@Tina S Hello and welcome to this little community thread.

@Katie P: I have taken the Child Income Tax Credit survey and had the same result (being led to an IRS page with seemingly no recognition for having done the survey.) I remember a few times back when they introduced some other similar survey they had a few technical issues at first, but it got resolved (I think) within a week or two. Perhaps give it some time.

Just in case the results may be different depending on whether one has child/children or not: I do not and was brought to the Earned Income Tax Credit page of irs.gov.

Deleted user

@Kristen O., thanks for the insight! I do have children and got the same results so I'll just wait it out. I'm hesitant to report it if that's widespread of an issue because I'm sure it wouldn't be helpful if they're getting bombarded with reports and are already aware of it.

Hi All!!

I finally got the referral program info in my email yesterday but I haven't checked to see exactly which dollar amount is paid for referrals yet.

I was able to complete the survey for the tax credit. I finished the survey and was then provided a link to the Child Tax accredit info.

Amie, yes, it is a little tedious but it still is the easiest way to earn points outside of reading the article of the day. And, I'm really enjoying listening to everyone's failures and successes in spending and saving. It seems like they are getting better at resolving the problems quickly when they are aware of them (i.e. articles on topics we've discussed in the thread, rewarding of points for the daily exercises, providing info on the referral programs).

I can't believe this is a TOP thread but it makes me feel heard as I hope it does all of you as well.

P.S. If SaverLife offers work from home/office opportunities, or a few paid surveys, maybe someone from the company can post it to the chat or on another thread… I'm sure there are many of us who could use additional income.😊

Awesome suggestion, @Candice P.! I love doing surveys here and there to earn a little extra income. I don't even mind that it's slow to add up, I just enjoy doing them.

@Candice P I know that this thread has been at the top of the [SaverLife FAQ] page…well besides the rules, for quite a while now, but I assumed it was because new comments kept being made. By "I can't believe this is a TOP thread…" does that mean there is actually some kind of behind-the-scene technology that is keeping it at the top due to popularity or helpfulness? Are top threads voted on or promoted by staff?

Also, I do not know about work-from-home jobs for SaverLife, but they do have a few select surveys. HOWEVER, the Surveys are through invites to the SaverLife Panel.

IF I remember and understood correctly: to be invited to the SaverLife Panel, one has to be ACTIVE [and I think a long-term member]. Out of those who qualify, a drawing is made to pick who to invite, and then there is an e-mail asking if the person accepts. I believe an acceptance to being part of SaverLife Panel lasts one year. [The time limit, I assume, is to allow for more people to have a chance to become a panelist.]
Surveys, as far as I'm aware, do not happen often even as a Panelist–mostly, focus on opinions for major changes or designs. (The SaverLife T-shirt design had multiple options and the one you see was the one chosen through vote.)

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a SaverLife Employee or Moderator. I do NOT know the interworkings of SaverLife or their Panels. I do NOT know if what I have stated is accurate. The above information is from my own observance and "piecing together" of other SaverLife user's comments which involve mention SaverLife paid surveys.

Kristen, you are AMAZING!!! 😊

I made the top post comment as there have been 160+ comments made so far (some of which I was talking to myself). 😂 I'm easily impressed by the small things.

Katie, I like surveys as well… as long as there is no bait and switch with the payments.

Welcome Abraham!!

I did not realize there was a Panel section of SaverLife. That's pretty interesting! I don't think I've been around long enough to qualify, but I plan on sticking around.
I also go the referral email and got to the referral section on the page; there are differing dollar amounts. In the email it's stating $5 and on the website either $2 or $3 depending on how you click through.
I've been able to complete the Child Tax survey but have not been awarded points. And again my points are frozen in the points store so I am unable to spend.
No fancy updates on my end; just staying the course with spending. Keeping on budget for August and getting ready for back to school!

Deleted user

Staying on budget, or coming in under expected expenses is my goal right now, too. And trying to collect those points! My kids like to take turns doing the scratch-offs but with 4 kids and earning points so slowly, they've each had to wait quite a while for their turn! It'd be nice if there were more surveys or quizzes to take. Maybe if you could earn 15pts per day to answer questions about the daily article, it would add up faster.

K

Kristen O.

I think a majority (if not all) of our goals is either staying on budget or coming under expected expenses. (Of Course, with the under expected expenses in a way that we are not neglecting anything [a.k.a. cutting corners] just to save a few). I know mine is to hopefully stay underbudget…mainly because my budget consists of three "grouped" expenses. (Two of which I cannot really control much: Rent and a set-family-run/agreed-upon sinking-fund.)

So, if I can keep my personal expenses/discretional spending below $100 per month, I'm uber-thrilled and "below budgeted expenses". So far, it seems like I'm on track.

@ Sara B I think there is a Referral thread now…perhaps we can voice to it like we do here and [hopefully] get the SaverLife Moderators to look at it and help clear the confusion about payments?

Hi everyone, I'm just checking in. Everything is going well on my end.
I also didn't know there was a Panel section but I'm definitely going to check it out. Thank you!!

I have a question for some of the longer-term saverlife users: How often do you win on the scratch offs? I only started a month ago and have won one time. I think I've been able to do the 3 per week, maybe not every week because I haven't been paying close attention. I'm wondering what to expect, whether it's one win a month, once every other month, etc. Just curious.

K

Kristen O.

@Precious N: Regarding when referral bonuses are rewarded: https://www.saverlife.org/forum/frequent-saverlife-faqs/referral-frequent-saverlife-faqs-topic. (I see you have already posted on this thread…just in case you didn't follow it. Shannon R mentioned that someone told them referrals are paid at the end of the first week of the month.

@Kaite P: Really, the scratchers depend on at what time day you and others are participating. The more people participating in a [I think it is 2-week period for the allotted scratcher winnings until resset…someone willing to check the Terms for me on this?] set period, the less likely to win.

Personally, I think I've won scratchers thrice. Once after about two months when I first started….another sometime later [though I had forgotten to change my linked-bank account when I changed banks], and I think once later. It is a fun incentive, but I personally wouldn't count on winning any in a somewhat approximate time. I've heard some people who have won [supposedly] once every few month. Then, there are those who are still attempting their first.

SaverLife doesn't (to my knowledge) keep track of who wins a scratcher or not; I believe it is all algorithm and chance based. Your chances are better than mine, though, if you've been able to attempt three-times a week.

Candice P.

I haven't won in a long while, but I unlinked my bank account. I will relink it and see how long it takes to win. Happy saving and scratching!!

Thanks for the info on your experiences with scratch offs! I won't quit my day job anytime soon, lol 😆

Since I've decided to take the advice about using the credit card for rewards and cash back, I spoke to the credit card company earlier… I asked for an increase and they denied me. The agent told me (that my credit score was 60 points lower than what is on each of the monitoring sites I use) and they cannot lower the interest rate or increase the limit. I've paid all my bills consistently for the past 4 years and I don't carry a balance on the existing card… I'm so confused 😕.
