I have around $6000 worth of dental care needed. That is just the price to have my teeth removed.
Does anyone have information on where to look for help. I've applied for Medicaid and I was denied.

I'm sorry, Melissa, I don't know of anything. I've struggled in the past, too. I've heard that some of the bigger cities have clinics for low-income patients, but I don't know if that's true. I believe most insurance companies require you to be a subscriber for at least 1-2 years before they'll cover major procedures.

My dad was a dentist but had to retire back in the 1980s due to illness. He used to barter with people if he knew they couldn't afford treatment (we always had tons of produce because lots of his patients were farmers) or at least charge only his cost and allow them to make small payments. I don't think dentists like him exist anymore. To be fair, dental school, equipment, and malpractice insurance costs have skyrocketed.

Anyway, I hope you're able to get treatment somehow!

dental schools generally have programs for cheap or free care. Though you have a trainee working on you, they generally have the best of equipment and skilled instructors to take over or instruct as necessary.

Good idea, Michael M.! The dental school at the university I attend does that. You can get cheap haircuts at cosmetology schools, too.

You can also purchase your own dental insurance through your insurer for a pretty reasonable cost per week or month. As a self insured individual, I had the option to choose to pick up dental and eye insurance through my carrier at a low cost additional price. It really was worth it. I have 2 cleaning a year free and x rays. And only pay a small fee for any fillings if needed.
