Healthy Coping Mechanisms include:

Grounding Oneself:

  • Three Chambered breathing.
  • Tracing one's hand/fingers.
  • Five senses: What do you feel [physically] around you? what do you see? what do you smell? What do you taste?
  • Counting backwards to calm down.

Calming Mind

  • Talk to someone you trust Journal and/or draw
  • Go outside in nature soak up some sunshine

There are free online resources for support, too. Two that I know of are:

Guilds on Habitica.com [There are several for mental health support, and all are quite friendly/supportive. ADHDers and Therapy Homework are the two I have joined.]

Interactive Self-Care Help: https://philome.la/jace_harr/you-feel-like-$@!#%-an-interactive-self-care-guide/play/index.html

Get help. Ask for help. It is so important say something than not.

Also, proper rest and healthy eating play a role in overall health (yes, mental, too.)

Various teas can help, also.

Camomile is known for relaxation. Rosemary for stress release.
Many others, but these are the ones off the top of my head.

I have gone through so much over years and talking with mentors family members you trust and good friends are awsome healing!! But most importantly talking with God first is the best one yet😊

I find that when I am getting anxious? A coping mechanism I was taught by my sister really helps. A random topic: Foods, Animals, Boys' Names. Then start with a random letter: name a food that starts witht the letter "R." Raddish. Name a food that starts with the letter "C." Cheese. Keep doing this until you feel yourself calm down! Works like a charm. (Most of the time!)

I like to close my eyes put my head back and take deep breaths and think of happy memories to calm down

Two really good apps are Headspace and Calm. Also I have been seeing a counselor for several years now and it has been extremely beneficial. I also have found Journaling helps…just being able to get everything out. Taking walks outside are an awesome way to decompress. Coloring but I have to admit, the Adult Coloring books stress me out so I bought myself kid ones.
Know you are NOT alone.

Adult coloring, and a walk outside always seem to help me. Sometimes you just need to break down and have a good cry but don't forget to pick yourself up and move on when you're done. Tomorrow is another day and a new beginning.
