Do you know how valuable your pocket change is? At a time when my spending was not being done with the most important things first. I found myself suffering without food in my pantry but new shoes on my feet (smh). I knew something had to change. And change is exactly what I decided to work with in order to change my situation. I thought it would be a good idea to get a piggy bank going.. but not just your old regular childhood coin bank. I wanted a challenge that I would enjoy doing while saving some good loot.. I just had to keep my head in the game. I thought a specific size container would help me with realizing my goal. I also figured I would only use dimes. This would keep the game fun and challenging since I rarely acquire dimes and for its small size the dime holds pretty good value. I ended up using an empty candle canister about the size of a coke can. I labeled it my dime bank and made an easy deposit slit on the top of it. It would take about a month to fill and it would yield about $30 every time. I decided this would be my unnecessary expenses money. I would focus on my bills with my check and use my dime bank to buy make-up, shoes or anything else that I wanted but did not need. Before this challenge I paid little attention to my pocket change. Now I am inspired to count what I have in my pockets and make the best use of it. I hope this inspires you to make a challenge of your own and realize how fun and beneficial this could be to your monthly budget.

We always keep a jar on the kitchen counter to throw our change in. We earmark it for different things each time when it's full, like college fund, dinner out, repair fund, etc.

MK, thanks for that idea regarding the dimes. I have a change bank with a counter at the top and I put all my coins in it. I am trying to fill it completely before cashing it in and to date it has $120. But I am going to use your ideal as a challenge and do quarters only. That should be fun. Also, on YouTube this weekend I saw a 100 week challenge in which the young lady labeled envelopes 1-100, putting that amount of money in the corresponding number. Instead of starting with 1, she started with 10 and went to 110. She yielded over $6,000. Now, thats a challenge. Doing it for a year would be awesome.
