Besides paying your credit cards and loans on time what else can you do to raise your credit score?

With regards to credit cards, you want to keep your balance low. If you have a high balance, it can still hurt you even though you pay your bills on time.

An easy way to boost your credit score is to add your utilities, cable, and other regular payments to your profile at the three credit bureaus. Assuming you make those payments on time, you will have more merchants reporting on-time payments. That's basically what the Experian BOOST cow does.

Once I paid down my debt, I opened up a few new lines of credit. My score increased by have a larger available balance. Just a side note, I don't use my credit cards much. I just have them. I still stick to my budget and try to use mostly debit.

Having too many credit cards , secured or not can also hurt your credit score.

Keeping credit utilization under 30% and paying credit on time every month. But I've notice adding new lines of credit increased my score. The more available credit and the length of the credit being open help tremendously.

Great tips! I've been trying to do all of the above!

Only charge what you can pay off in full. Always remember deals always come back. Just have patience. Save until you can pay your purchase in full.

To increase your credit score have a mix of accounts. An installment payment, (car notes, house notes) credit cards. When possible pay off your credit card balance before the due date. Make your car payments/ house payments before the due date. If possible pay at least $5 more.

Has anyone tried the programs where they use your rent to improve credit? Any suggestions?

Don't just open up a bunch of credit cards to get your credit up, this can hurt your score more than it will help!

Experian Boost is who I personally use and I find them very resourceful.
