To me food is most essential in your budget. If you don not eat right you are going to be stressed more easily and will endanger your health which will negatively impact your budget.

If you want to save, is better to cook as much as you can at home. You can save more than $400 at month.

I made a list of all my family's meals and then separated them into categories, like rice, pasta, soups, sides, etc., and created a menu. Then I figured out approximately how much it costs to make each one and added that info. Now it's easy to choose what to make each week, and it's easy to budget because I know approximately how much I need to spend. I check the weekly sale ad for my favorite grocery store and keep that in mind when deciding what meals to make for the week. It really helps keep me within a budget.

I agree good healthy food is essential to health. I my pay a little more but in the long run it pays off. I look at adds for sale items and stick as close to just buying that.
