How do I pay off large debts when my income is less than my bills combined

I guess the answer is, a little at a time. There are so many good resources here to get help with finding ways to:

  • reduce your expenses
  • develop a greater income
  • negotiate with your large-debt holders

Those are really the only ways to get a little freedom from where you are.

I've been there. $40k in credit debt and unemployed. A few charge offs and hits to my credit rating, of course, and one very challenging negotiation with a debt collector, but eventually that history came off my reports. Building back up, going from secured to unsecured credit, paying absolutely everything on time, and I'm in high 700 range on credit score and solvent again. It can be done! Little by little, and with help!
