There are apps that guide you to saving with subscriptions. I use my rewards cards & shop for the best deals.

Automatic transfers to my savings account right when I get paid

Deleted user

I have peen paid weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly.

For savings it was always harder to save when paid weekly because the amounts of cash coming in were smaller which made me feel like saving wasn't getting me anywhere.

Bi-weekly was probably just right because even if I had to miss making a savings deposit I could make it up in 2 weeks.

I'm now paid monthly and it's a struggle to make sure I don't have more month than money. But if I can avoid the temptation to declare every 3rd week "an emergency" excuse to tap savings it is rewarding to see those larger deposits. OTOH some months basically become 5 weeks for payday so it pays to plan ahead and adjust spending.

I was once saving y cash with a chart and a jar and that was actually working for me. I started saving by transferring money between my bank accounts but it's a little challenging but I could get used to it. I'm unsure which is a better method for me but I am going to challenge myself by creating an actual dollar amount that would be my target goal of saving. I'm so excited to be a part of this group!

I just read the article of the day which talks about the pros of an automatic withdrawal to a savings account. I used to have one that would round each transaction to the dollar and place the change into my savings account. That was a simple way to do it and since it was always change, I never had to worry about overdrafting. My current bank doesn't have that program, but I did sign up for an automatic transfer from my checking to my savings every Friday-$10. I just have to remember and make sure my money in is always $10 than my money out! So far so good!

I use an app that withdraws my change from my checking account into another savings account. It's great to see that money add up.

I setup a direct deposit from my paycheck to accounts for specific goals (i.e. Emergency Fund, Vacation, Car, Gifts, etc.)

I have my td checking & savings accounts linked. I also have a stashinvest. com account that i typically deposit $20 a week in, half goes to stock investments & half tp retirement. I have been able to save around $2000 that I usually hold after I pick a stock

I get a certain % from my bi-weekly paycheck and deposit it in my high interest savings account and in my Fidelity Roth IRA.

I need help understanding the cash envelope system :/

The simplest thing I do to save is have money direct deposited from my pay check to my retirement account, savings account, and my "big thing I want to buy" account. Because I don't "see" the money – and I have enough to pay my bills – I don't get tempted to overspend my budget.

Two ways for me right now is
1) Same here @ Elena B. , having a recurring, automated set amount to savings has been a big help.
2) I find one thing in my groceries each week that has an equivalent, good quality store/related brand item for less $, saving the difference.
Every bit helps.

Added up monthly Bills then divided by 4 weeks. That's how much we put in bill envelope each week. Take 10% of what's left or any OverTime money to save. Little adds up over time. Put more when you can

Budgeting and staying focus to Save, Save, and Save.

I started by getting a jar and saving all my change from the end of the day in there. Then I would count it and deposit it in a high yield savings or money market account in the bank.

Wow! This is the same way I started saving. I would add all my change and $1 bills (one year I did $5 bills). I would cash in the change and then deposit into the bank. It was one of the easiest ways I found to save money.

Any time I receive money, no matter the amount, I put something toward my savings. Every dollar counts, and every penny adds up.

I pull alll my change in a bottle and when it is full I count it and deposit the amount to my savings account.

I just read the daily article about couponing. It was a little outdated as it talked about Sunday newspaper coupons, but nowadays, electronic coupons are the way to go. Also, grocery store discount cards. Both are great ways to save money.

I make sure every Monday I deposit money into SaversLife account. $25 plus $5.00. As soon As I get my check in beginning of month I transfer that money into another account and than transfer it to the SaversLife account.

Depending on what your salary is, I would have a specific amount direct deposited to your savings account, and when I get a bonus, I save that extra in my savings account.
