I have a hard time saving if I can see the amount that I have saved. I wish there was a way that I could hide that amount from myself…

Anytime I have some extra cash I deposit into my savings account. Sometimes I skipped buying something I want, if it's not a need, to put the money I would have used into savings.

Apps that earn passively, meaning you do nothing and you earn money, are a great way to slowly build some savings if you just cannot save money from your the wages you earn from your job. I have referrals for these kinds of apps, this is not a scam!

Personally, I finally started a Savings account with Credit Karma, and not only are you having money (an amount of your choosing) taken out of your selected banking account, but they also have an APY % that is added to your Credit Karma Savings account account each month (currently 0.17%). I recommend Credit Karma because it’s not a savings account connected to my bank where I see my savings account, and think 🤔… “Well I have this in my bank savings account, so let me transfer it to my checking” mind frame.

What are some of the apps you're talking about?

In addition to whatever amount I budget to add into savings for the month, I add the remainder of other monthly budget categories into savings at the end of the month.

Automated savings is a great way to save, especially if you are not disciplined enough to do the transfer every week or every two weeks. First set a goal of how much you want to save weekly, monthly, annually, etc., and make a plan. In addition to my automated savings from my paycheck, I challenge myself to save some of my variable spending money, every week. That money gets deposited into my emergency fund.

Do your research and set up an online savings account, you can have funds direct deposited from your check or set up a schedule for an amount to be withdrawn from your checking account. Ally Bank has been around for over 10 years and have seen the interest rate fluctuate with the times, but they still offer one of the best at 0.50% and their customer service staff is the best when it comes to answering your questions and giving assistance.

Every time I use my debit card if there is change on it say like I have 574.45 on my card I’ll take the 45 and put it in the savings

My strongest Recommendation is to save ANY amount of money but be sure to add it in a separate account. With online banking available there are so many different ways to save money and multiple accounts.
Now don’t be mistaken by the fact that I understand things happen and we do withdrawl those funds occasionally. However, just think beyond the fact of failing, And realize that because you saved that money that you have it available. However, because it is something that you borrowed away from yourself find ways to replace it by restarting that savings.
Wouldn’t you technically repay a loan with anyone else…. Why not yourself. Your biggest Supporter!

I setup direct deposits from my paycheck into accounts for specific saving goals.
