I have a portion of my paycheck direct deposited into savings. If your employer does not allow multiple direct deposit accounts you can set up automatic transfers from your primary account.

Elena B I have similar advice. Paycheck is direct deposited into checking account where I pay most bills. I have savings account at same banks & set up weekly transfers between the 2 accounts depending on the balances in each.

Direct deposit portion to savings, eliminate one want from you weekly or monthly budget. Example: If you normally buy a candy bar twice a month, reduce it to once a month and put the money from the 2nd bar into savings.
