I'd start with a budget. Track your spending (the more detailed you are, the better). Then create a budget. Decide where you want your money to go in advance. Be sure to pay yourself too. You can, if possible, include some $ for investing. Open a 401k, and get started.

You can do it!

@Denese

If you've lost your job, let me start by saying, I'm sorry.
However, budgeting is most important when you have little money to spare. You have to say where every dollar you have goes.
Budgeting is just keeping track of where/when your get and spend your money.

Good luck

Budgeting can be hard when you first start but it does get easier.
