It is a fact that in all likelihood the actions by the new President in under 2 months has pushed up the cost of gas by over 40 cents.

If it stops there fine. But the more it increases the less you have for other budget items so try to plan ahead.

Also take advantage of gas station rewards and promotions. Currently CircleK has a daily scratch off and so far I've gotten a 15 cent discount on fuel 3x in addition to free food, windshield washer, and drinks. BP and Marathon also have some nice promos.

If you shop at Kroger, make sure to take advantage of your fuel points.

I use Kroger to get biggest discount along with using Gas Buddy card (tied to my bank account) for extra 3 cents a gallon discount when it is withdrawn from bank. The recent storms here caused power outages and we spent over $100 in gas for generator… looking to convert it to natural gas.

WinnDixie has a fuel rewards partnership through FuelRewards for Shell but I find I'm better off just using the points at WinnDixie.

Sure let's blame a new pres. Anyway I keep a set amount to fill tank by size. What I don't use goes on a prepaid gas card for that gas station. It forces me to have gas funds available

I budget for two fill ups a month or $60.00 as I fill my car once I get to half a tank. I purchase my gas at Sam’s Club and receive 5% cash back when I use my credit card. I pay off the card each month.

I always try to budget to keep money on my card so I can pay rides on Lyft or catch a cab

I fill my tank once a week. I use Kroger fuel points or Qt gas. I have not figured out a way to use less gas.

fortunately i am not using as much fuel - still spending the same amount of $

Since you went there the decisions by this administration definitely is a major factor. $1 rise in price in less than 60 days with no major political instability in the Middle East is a big clue the change is political and not economics based.

But the main issue of this topic is affordability and there are a few discount opportunities if you look for them like BP, Marathon, CircleK and Exxon-Mobil. And as has been said WinnDixie & Kroger has fuel rewards programs. You might also want to set a few bucks aside from the fast food budget or whatever discretionary funds and hold on to the money until say Christmas while we see how this all starts to settle down.

Rather than a gas card for 1 company I'd suggest a prepaid card like Amex Bluebird. I don't know if Gas Buddy allows you to store funds but they have some savings opportunities.

Or you could just go buy an electric vehicle today. Ah but the now the administration wants to tax you per mile driven so save up for the new road taxes.

I'm so glad I read this feed. i totally forgot Kroger helps with gas as well as saving on food. i've been shopping at Walmart so often now because I thought it was the most affordable! I really do miss Manager specials & the salad bar. Thanks guys!
