With the holiday season almost upon us, I'm very interested in what giving you are doing and what limits everyone has in place to keep from going overboard.

I keep it under $50 for the niece & nephews and other family gets useful gifts like one year I gave my little sister & her family a laundry basket full of laundry soap and dryer sheets as they had been struggling (total out of pocket was less than $15 for everything). Happy to say she was moved to tears and very appreciative.

For me: my daughter's birthday is Christmas day so every year was an overboard event…. she is now out of college and an adult. I've reducing my gifting to her and per her request - receives Amazon gift cards for both birthday and Christmas…..

I'm getting one of my family members a windshield snow cover since he lives in a very cold and wintry place: https://noblerate.com/best-windshield-snow-covers/

He hates scraping off the snow and ice from his window, so I thought that this would help!

Yes, I'm sure they will love it. My husband got me a cover several years ago and it is fantastic.

I have done Holiday season with as many DIY projects I could possibly do in a matter of days. I know my older family members love receiving makeup from me (so I started signing up on those random sites that give out freebies). Over the course of the year I can manage to fill up a few gift bags with small mascaras, perfume, lipglosses, etc. They are none the wiser and I keep my wallet happily afloat.

This year I'm giving all my nieces and nephews handmade blanket. They love getting new throws every year so this year I was going to make them all matching ones

Those sound like wonderful gifts.

This year, I started my shopping earlier around October to stretch out my money. We also spent less on everyone.

What a smart idea!! Care to share what those freebie sites are?

Using supplies I already have to make goats milk soaps for co-workers.

Love goat milk soaps…. got some store bought from a co-worker couple years ago and it is amazing. Your co-workers are so lucky :)

It is hard with kids. Adults understand. Kids might not. One year I managed to regift everything. These days since we are all adults… we do small gives for no reason at random times of the year. That and a nice dinner when ever we are together. With my family- we all have tons of junk. We have "stuff". Another new widget is not going to improve life. Another thing I try to do- this is harder tho… is quality time. One thing I miss with a late friend is how we prayed. It was like having a direct link to God.

Quality time spent with loved ones—family or otherwise—is truly the best, Roger ♥ My family and I have a nice dinner and don't do many gifts on Christmas either.

We swap names among the adults and buy one gift of about $30. We also do $10-$15 gifts for our nieces and nephews and $30 gifts for my spouse's three brothers. I divide what we plan to spend and save all year in a special savings account (just one I labeled "Christmas").
