For those who are able to plan where one purchases, you may want to check out Raise.com.

It is a website where you are able to buy discounted gift-cards [the reason for the discount is the owners of the cards do not wish to use them and want at least some of the money back…thus, a trade off.])

I have used Raise three times now and have had no issues. They do have a protection policy [I want to say it has a 1-year guarantee?] in place just in case the gift card balance is not what was advertised.

On a side note: if you have gift-cards you do not plan to use nor want to you, you may look into selling them at a discount. I believe all sites that do this, though, take a percentage and have not actually tried myself.

I've won a few gift cards that I couldn't use and traded them for Amazon GCs on CardCash. It's really easy. When you enter the type of card you have and the balance, CardCash will make you an offer, which will be a bit less than your balance. You can either get cash or swap it for a different card. You get less if you pick cash. They'll offer you more if you're unloading in-demand GCs, like Amazon, or less for more unpopular stores.

I'm in the same boat. It's so expensive here in my state even living in Govt housing and living on SSI. Our situation is better now that I qualified for SSI but it seems like the grocery prices keep rising and the chances at getting coupons are even lower. Does anyone know a good place to get coupons online? Our sunday papers are so questionable! They have coupons in them but they are frequently stolen before you can get to them.

@Becky B. Coupons.com is a good place to print coupons. They also have an app you can load on your phone. If you sign up for Swagbucks, you can print the same coupons.com coupons from there, and you'll get 1 cent (in points) for each one that you print, up to 50 cents/day. To save paper and ink, I just save them all as a pdf and then print the ones I can actually use. Then, if you redeem a coupon at the store, you get another 25 points added to your account a few weeks later. Then you can cash in your points for a gift card, including PayPal and Amazon GCs. Also, you need to use Ibotta! They have the best deals.

I try to catch up on surveys when I have free time it isn't much cash but it is still something when it's hard to find a job and I got 3 kids and can't pay for babysitting

It's not how much you make but what you do with what you make. Some people spend money on things they don't need but just want at the spur of the moment. Others use that same money to save and invest and you'll be amazed of how much they end with.

I keep track of my spending with a check book register book. I balance this at least weekly. When I get low on money, I wait till my checks come in.
