How can I continue to rent and save when I am getting charged extra fees all the time by the landlord when he is responsible for certain things like the living situations such the air conditioning, and the water spicket leaking that I had to pay the plumber $150 to fix!

You may want to check the tenant/landlord laws in your state. It sounds like your landlord is taking advantage of you. Most maintenance is the landlord responsibility.

Double check the terms of your lease and ensure you haven't just assumed these items were the landlord's responsibility.

I have seen leases where specific appliances are excluded (often left by a tenant rather than provided by the landlord). And accidental damage or neglect are often the tenant's responsibility (like if an outdoor spigot leaked because a hose was left attached over winter and the spigot froze).

And if it's really on him, you can consult a lawyer but you're probably better off finding a new place.

Review your agreement to see what is your responsibility and what is livable condition. If you have good credit you can choose to live in a better place, but if you have bad credit you may have a harder time finding a well maintained place.

My landlords are always the same. The ignore you until you finally break down and pay for it yourself. You could deduct it from your rent and send then the receipt, but you never know how they will react.

you should not be responsible for a leaking spicket - read your lease and see what your responsibilities are, you may need to contact housing authority in your area if he is not maintaining/repairing in timely manner….

The way I save is try to put about 25 to 50 dollars a week if you can. So try to think pay yourself first in your mindset. Then pay the bills and then credit cars and loans last. But always pay yourself first.

Maintenance is usually done by landlord; please check with the local regulations.
