Getting out of debt is tough when you don’t have the know how, but local resources are available for budgeting and getting a plan on track.

Utilize resources like debt management if you don't have a plan.

Getting out of debt is simple, when you do it in steps. First stop wasting your money…….only buy what you NEED and stop eating out so much. Buy yourself an out meal on payday so its a treat and something to look forward to. Fix a lunch to take to work and cook more at home. Next make a list of your debt and concentrate on paying off the smallest one, then move on to the next and so on. Pay all your bills as normal, but pay extra towards the bill you are trying to pay off. Once you have paid it off reward yourself by buying something you WANT that doesn't cost alot and won't set you back again. That way you can satisfy that urge to spend within reason. Soon you will see a big difference in debt and credit score.

I don't have much debt. My problem is I don't have much income. I have a credit karma account to help me track my credit score as I chip away at my debt. Luckily, most of my debt is to family members who don't post on your credit report. One of the ways I am trying to increase my credit score while not increasing debt is a secure credit card that will post to my credit report. I can use the card to pay for groceries …money I will spend anyway. Then, pay my card with grocery money… And pay a little debt at a time with my card.

Here is a link for the Power Pay debt elimination tool. You will put in all your debts, including the dollar amounts, interest rates, and minimum payments. You will have also put in how much extra you can pay each month. This is where your budget comes in handy! Even if it’s a small amount, it will make difference. The website will then calculate how long it will take you to get out of debt, and even print you a calendar showing how much to pay on each debt, each month. (The directions for this site are on the homepage, on the right-hand side.) Hope this can help 😊

Being in debt is one of the toughest things I have ever had to face on my own. Thanks to saverLife I can finally get back on track.

I consolidated my debt and got interest way down. Had direct deposits for each card. Every month I was free of worries. It took 3 years but now it's done. When it started coming to an end one card at a time it was a hug victory. Great feeling if accomplishment.

I was pretty debt free about 2 years ago and then COVID hit on top of a lot of other random unexpected expenses and not just 1. Wish I had the tools and resources at that time to have worked through all of that until it was a little bit too late. But now working on getting all turned around and hopefully a better and successful 2021 on top of now knowing where to get answers and resources to stay on top of it.

Has anyone gotten a loan to pay off debt? Did it help or make it worse? How did you choose where to get the loan from?
