How common is it for adults over the age of 40 to live with their parents. What seems to be the overall reason for this to occur besides for divorce.

I don't know how common it is, but I know of people in their 30s who have done it. Usually because of support reasons. Example, why live alone when you're single, get along with your parents (they don't have a problem with it), they are in the same town, and cost of living would be far less?

I left home when I turned 18 and I've never had to to move back home. I've been blessed and lucky so far.

We moved in with my parents for a few years so that we could take care of them. We'd tried 8 different nursing homes with unbelievably horrible results. We even tried private nurses but found them to be undependable and some stole. I felt like I had no choice but to quit my job because I was exhausted from trying to work full time, figure things out for my parents and care for my own family. I, my husband, our 2 kids, and all our pets moved in w/mom and dad and cared for them until they passed away. It pretty much ruined us financially, but allowing my parents to suffer was worse.

I live with my Mom and I'm a 33 year old woman. It came about because of financial difficulties due to COVID but recently her health went into a bit of decline so I think depending on the circumstances it could be beneficial to both the parents and adult child
