As an educational assistant in a special ed class the challenges of helping my students keep on mask to be safe is very over whelming but i love my students and will do anything for them. I was wondering if there are any other educators having the same problem?

I think with the Covid spikes overwhelming hospitals and medical facilities in many states the teacher's unions have very strong cases in their existing lawsuits to prevent those states' governments from ordering primary and secondary educators back to face-to-face instruction.

In my county we will be on all virtual next week going into winter break. But what then.

I work in education as well, at a high school. We're doing virtual and in-person, but have divided A-B days by alpha, so we only have 200-250 kids on campus each day. Starting 2/22, we'll be getting rid of the split, and so will have 400-500 kids on campus every day. To say that we (the staff) are all extremely anxious about it is an understatement! We struggle a bit with getting students to wear their masks properly, but it's the six feet apart that is our real issue. They want to hug, stand in groups, etc. Only two students are allowed in the restroom at a time, so they can space out, but we've caught groups of students hanging out in the restroom and even couples in there together. This happens throughout the school year normally, but not at the numbers we're seeing now. We also have 2-3 Covid-19 cases a week, either students or staff. We have to double up students with teachers for weeks at a time because of teachers being out with Covid-19. It's kind of crazy. I'm really hoping we get the vaccine out faster and that it'll be required for students who attend in-person, just like other vaccines are required for students. I also don't understand why educators aren't in this first group for vaccines. I'd feel much better if I was vaccinated.
