I know alot of people have made plenty of money on there, but for some reason I just don't trust it and won't invest into it.

The idea that a government could ban it overnight keeps me far away.

There are two big threads on BTC already in the investing forum and a ton of crypto currency discussions with a good bit of information. Why not check those out?

I don't like Bitcoin, because it is just a speculative tool without productivity.

Bitcoin/cryptocurrency and stocks are both a gamble, but some have better odds than others.

It takes a lot of energy to mine bitcoin, so it's terrible for the environment.

It's recognized as an official form of currency in El Salvador which is a huuuge step; however, as mentioned in previous posts, the government is cracking down on crypto currencies as I'm sure they're not trying to have USD become invalid or decrease in value.
If you already have an emergency fund AND a solid savings account built and don't mind potentially losing money, then go for it. But diversify your portfolio to prevent any complete losses and understand what you're doing before diving in. You'd be better off investing in Bitcoin vice trading unless you have stupid money and a solid broker.

The fed and congress are backed into a corner. In hindsight it was not hard to see that we would eventually arrive at this point. The USG can tax and regulate BTC but they cannot stop the inevitable adoption of BTC as the global currency if they continue the current twin goals of pricing world energy and goods in petrodollars and offloading overspending by inflation via monetary policy.

This is not fininacial advice, but investing small amounts in various cryptocurrencies has allowed me to profit. It's up to everyone individually what will work for them, but for me it's a good small investment.

I like Bitcoin from the perspective of a store of wealth and I have some on an app that pays me a much better interest rate than any bank account I have. But from an investing perspective, I am currently putting money into other alt coins that I believe have the potential to grow much more rapidly than Bitcoin in the near future.
