I'm gathering from the responses to the posts in this forum that investing should only be done if you are okay with losing that money. Would would anyone be okay with that with any amount? Investing seems like scam. I signed up with Robin hood many, many months ago, and I was given a free stock. I never did buy any stocks available to me and likely will not. Is investing more of a rich person thing? I live off of 21k year in a 2 person household….seems extremely unwise to risk any loss of my precious money.

I do not think investing always involves losing money. There are multiple investment types and strategies in which the risk of losing money over the long term is almost negligible. Investors who tend to lose money are those who do short term investing (day trading), choosing extremely risky investments, or spend lots of money on investment with high fees and high expense ratios.

There's a level of risk associated with any investment. Before you make any investment decision you should understand the risks involved and determine if the potential gain is worth that risk. Likewise, there's also risk associated with NOT investing, in that you could be missing out on investment gains needed to achieve your goals.

I think investing could be for everyone, except those who have a problem knowing when to take it and go. Know that your money can be there ine second and be gone the next. A scary game lol

Agreed with many of the comments here. There are definitely risks in investing and of course likewise risk in not investing.

I will state that I'm in the investing category of people.

For those who don't consider themselves investors, there is likely a misunderstanding of risk and a fear of the unknown. In particular, these people probably place too much emphasis on the seemingly more tangible risk of losing money in investments and not enough emphasis of the significant and real risk associated with the loss of value of money that isn't being invested. Adding to this is the lack of knowledge of investing and how you can mitigate investment risk through diversification and having a longer time horizon. Sure, there are potential dangers in investments, but there are also dangers in not investing.
