Our 8 year old had a tendency to want to spend any money he got right away, never really understanding the value of saving for a bigger goal or saving in general. We have been teaching him to put back a little at a time, so that he can buy something he really wants that costs more and so that he is never completely out of money, in case something he bought before gets lost or broken. He's coming along really well with it!

Great idea. I'm going to start including my 14 year old in watching how much we spend on groceries and search for coupons.
